Old Master Oil Painting Techniques for Beginners - (Scheduling now)

(Reservation REQUIRED) - Instructor and award winning realist artist, Sharon Irla, shares her techniques to ramp up the realism in your oil paintings. $50 deposit must be received by August 2. Balance due at first session. Please mail your deposit to Cherokee Artists' Association, P.O. Box 202, Tahlequah, OK 74465.

Day 1 Learn the value(s) of underpainting with a very forgiving oil painting technique that allows you to easily create realistic shadows and high lights to begin a modeling process that will make your people look more real.

Day 2 Taking your painting to the next level, you will learn the importance of brush stroke and techniques for blending, correcting and enhancing, as your figure begins to take on a 3 dimensional form.

Day 3 In the 3rd layer of your painting, you will learn how to mix skin colors and the correct order of layering colors to achieve rich, realistic skin tones.

Day 4 & 5 Achieving photo-realism often takes weeks and many more layers than what can be achieved in 3 sessions. However, after the first 3 sessions, you will have learned the 3 basic steps achieving realism. Session 4 and 5 is for those that wish to take their paintings to the next, more developed level - learning about making and using enhancing color glazes and varnishes to achieve depth and enhanced shadow and high lights. These two days of painting development will truly amaze you when see how realistically you really can paint.
