Charlotte Coats Charlotte is skilled in weaving the Oklahoma double wall and gives thanks to her teachers Kay Cope and Terry Restivo who learned from the well known Cherokee weaver, Linda Lou Alexander, of Oklahoma. Linda learned from the master weaver, Mavis Doering in Oklahoma.

This year she spent many days teaching herself the complex double woven Cherokee baskets. She states "a good basket is one which is woven within traditional guidelines, from traditional materials, if available, and with the skill of a master." She continues to research the old Cherokee patterns and would like to keep her baskets as close to the historical baskets as possible.

Charlotte has developed a strong interest in using native materials and dyes in her baskets as well as learning the traditional and old Cherokee designs, even including growing her own River Cane.
